Hair and Make Up

Olivia came in to help us with our hair and make up to match the costumes we'd be having. Olivia tested the make up on Juliette since she was the one to have to wear it.

Olivia testing make up on Juliette
After the session Juliette tried it at home by herself. Here are the hair and make up we discussed with Olivia for each era:

   50s:

Marilyn Monroe
Audrey Hepburn
1950s make up tend to consist of matte red lipstick and simple black eyeliner. It was not very colourful but was clean and 'housewife-like'.

Olivia gave us some suggestions to take inspiration from for 1950s make up. These included Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn.

So using those reference, we decided to use matte red lipstick, black winged eyeliner and light natural eye-shadow. For hair, we decided on 'victory rolls', which Juliette tried out at home

   70s:

Looking at 1970s make up, they tend to use light pastel colours. In 1970s there were a lot of colours included, which Juliette tried at home.

Juliette wore a bandana as we could use it in our music video.

80s:

Olivia took inspiration from 1980s Madonna which she tested out on Juliette. The eye shadow was two distinct bright colours and glossy pink lipstick.

However in our music video, we're referencing 'The Breakfast Club', so her make up would be more natural to fit Allison Reynolds image, this represents 'normal' people so our audience could relate to it.

Cher from Clueless

   90s:

1990s make up did not consist of musch colour, we used Cher from Clueless as a make up reference:

It was mainly light eye-shadow with mascara and thin eyeliner.
Juliette tried this style at home.

Her hair would be kept down and straight, similar to characters from Clueless.

Band Members:

For the female band members, we used Haim as inspiration.

We decided on straight hair and light makeup to fit the indie scene.

For the male band members, we references Everything Everything; where the band memebers dont wear any make up.

Most indie bands have a natural feel to them or stylized.
