Shoot Day: 7th November

In this shoot we scheduled the reshoot of the 90s scenes first then we shot the 50s scene.

Having considered what went wrong from our previous shoot, we applied those points we wrote down to this shoot, while keeping all the props and set up the same.

Filming 90s
For example, one of the points was that the camera had to be eye level with Jacob, which we remembered to do. We did he same shots as our last shoot day, keeping the wide and close ups. This time it took us less time than the first shoot to film as the actors knew exactly what they had to do, allowing us to move onto the next scene quicker. Also, we got Jacob to sing the actual song instead of lip-syncing it, making the 'lip-syncing' more realistic when it comes to editing.

50s Set up

While the actors went to have a costume change and get their make up done, Brandon, Audrey and I set up the 50s scene. When we tried to hang the cut out cars, they were still very flimsy so we had to use a cardboard tube to support it as a spine, stopping it from bending. As for the jukebox, because it wasn't completely straight we need to support it with the drum kit stool. Luckily none of the support was visible on camera.
50s Set
At the end of the shoot, since we had a few minutes left, the two actors practiced the dance to prepare for the shoot where we film the whole dance.

Actors practicing and Brandon guiding
With the footage we got, we tried editing them together:

These edits were not graded but we were still able to see what worked well and what we had to improve on. What we decided worked well was the set and costumes as it was able to convey the eras well, the acting was great aswell however, after showing it to our teacher, we realised Jacobs lip-syncing still wasn't great. In the end we decided to reshoot the parts where lip-syncing was involved.

Seeing the footage we got, we realised there were a lot of bloopers and decided to start making a blooper reel for our website to make it more interactive for the fans.
