Shoot Day: 12th November - Publicity Shots

Publicity shots shot by Juliette
After we finished filming the band performance, we decided to make use of the time and take some publicity shots while we were in costume. The shots that were taken were considered as either the publicity shots for the music video of possibly for our digipack. Since Juliette was the only one not in the band, she took the publicity shots of the band.

First we did individual shots to get into character:

These photos helped establish the roles of each member in our indie band. Since we're a new band, it would be useful to have shots of the members with their instruments.

Without the instruments, we took photos of the band members emphasising on their personalities. For example, Brandon's character is a fun playful guy, hence the full of energy pose (top left). As for Audrey, her character's upbeat and cheerful, so she gave a cheeky facial expression (bottom left). Jacob's character has the sweet boy next door image, so he expressed that through his pose. Me, on the other hand is the 'cool' bassist so I thought a 'model-style' pose would suit my character, giving a powerful impact.

We also took close ups as we thought we would use them on the website for their about pages.

After our individual shots, we decided to take shots of me and Audrey together, showing the different female images in the band. Since, according to our website, Audrey and I were the ones that started the formation of the band, we thought it would create a personal connection with the audience as they could see different sides of us.

Lastly, we shot the group band photos. From our production meeting we had ideas of the poses the band could have. We started with the calm and composed image, as shown in the image above. Then we moved on to show the band real image: quirky and fun.

We took inspiration from the band San Cisco, as their band image is similar to ours.

Like our band, we wanted to create a youthful appearance that is connoted by the posed playful shot so our target audience, being mainly young people, can relate to.

The shots that we took during this shoot were edited by Juliette as she is the most capable with Photoshop and was able to get it done quickly. She made the images look professional by editing out the imperfections on the set but tried to keep us looking the same as it is what we are. She also increased the vibrance and contrast to bring out the colours of our clothing.

We would then put it on the website's gallery, as a special for our fans to feel more relatable. However we realised we needed more variety of shots for our website so we decided to schedule another publicity shot slot but in different costumes.
