Props and Set Design

Since we have a lot of sets, we needed quite a few props aswell. However what made it easier for us was that we wanted minimalistic sets, so all we needed for each set was the representative of the eras.

50s:

Mounted Jukebox
Red car cutout

Out set comprised of two vintage car cutouts which we would hang from the ceiling and a jukebox.

We bought the cutouts of the cars, but they were too flimsy so we had to somehow mount it to card to keep it straight which we did in the image on the left
For the jukebox, though it wasn't as flimsy as the cars, it wouldn't stand up by itself so Juliette tried mounting it to make it stand upright.
Though we dont have actual cars or an actual jukebox, these add a handmade feel to our music video, which we agreed on would look nice.

We chose these props to represent this era as they are iconic from 1950s.

The male lead would have a comb so we could do the iconic Greasers 'hair comb'.

70s:

In this era, we bought a disco ball online and made our own disco floor out of coloured sugar-paper.

Making the Disco Floor
We were inspired by Saturday Night Fever so it made sense to have them reference moves from that film as well as on a disco recreated set.

80s:

We referenced 'The Breakfast Club' for 80s so we just used a bench for the main character to walk across and a book which the female would be reading, setting a school-like scene. In 'The Breakfast Club', they have an iconic shuffle across a beam but instead of a beam, we used a bench which was easily sourced from school.

90s:

Our reference for 90s is F.R.I.E.N.D.S, so it was natural to have a sofa, coffee table and a 'Central Perk' mug, like in the TV series. We also included a boombox to add to the 1990s era.

Mordern:

It was obvious we would include phones in modern as nearly everything is made possibly to do on our mobile phones, so everyone has one, even young children. Since we already had a zebra crossing from our A2 prelim, we decided to use that as it was easily sourced.

Our sets was still minimalistic yet it was able to represent the era we wanted it to.

Band:

Like many bands, we decided to go with the plain band set up.

Instead we would only have one amp for the guitarist and bassist, a microphone on a stand and the drum kit in the background.

Similar to San Cisco's Awkward video:
